Course Introduction

The B.Sc. – Hospitality Studies is a degree curriculum offered by ICE College of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Studies, which is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University. The programme includes a semester pattern intensive curriculum that offers students with the knowledge and skills essential in the hospitality sector.

The curriculum includes courses relevant to today’s industry, such as Environmental Sciences, Tourism Operations, Hotel Laws, and so on. The curriculum structure designed by the University in trajectory with National Education Policy 2020 guidelines aims to provide a framework for understanding the hospitality industry by sensitizing students to the conceptual, visual, and perceptual process. With this modification, a Choice Based Credit System was created to give students with options outside the specified courses. CBCS offers a ‘Cafeteria’ method in which students can select courses of their choosing and study in an integrative manner. This redesign also includes a transition from the traditional marking system to a grading system. The amount of credits that students must accomplish in order to be awarded a degree is specified.

(The basic objective is to provide to the hospitality industry a steady stream of competent young men and women with the necessary knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to occupy key operational positions. The Programme structure is designed keeping in view the basic objectives stated above. Consequently, certain essential features of the model are: To impart to the students latest and relevant knowledge from the field of Hospitality Operations. To ensure that students are equipped with necessary operational skills related to the hospitality industry. To develop the right kind of values and attitudes to function effectively in the hospitality trade. The following considerations have been taken into account. The knowledge inputs and opportunities for skill development have been offered in an evenly distributed and logically sequenced manner with appropriate options. The design is simple and logical and offers the student a choice of subjects. The relative importance of skills and ability development and attitudinal orientation in hospitality education has been kept in mind. The courses have been designed and classified as core, ability enhancement, discipline specific, skills enhancement and general courses, with the freedom to choose courses from amongst discipline specific and general electives)
